A message from Tammy, our CEO
This year has definitely brought uncertainty into the lives of many people as we are learning to live with a new “normal.” As we all navigate through this year, I want to bring attention to the problems facing our veterans. Many of the resources that our veterans relied on are not available to them because of COVID 19. So many of our veterans are struggling with increased depression. Because of our commitment to our Nation’s Heroes we have decided to continue serving our veterans and first responders with safety precautions in place. We started Saddles In Service in order to bring wellness and healing to our Heroes by partnering them with a rescued horse. It is imperative that we continue to offer our program to as many of our Heroes as we can. Since the beginning of COVID 19, we have received a record number of applications to start our program. At this time we have almost tripled the number of Heroes we serve each week. We want to thank all of our Donors for their much-needed support of our Heroes and Horses. Without you, we could not continue to do the work that is greatly needed. Thank you!
I am excited to introduce you to three new members of our SIS team! Holly Sanchez has accepted the role of Chief Operations Officer and Donna Sinema has accepted the role of Chief Communications Officer! Both of these talented women are also military spouses. They both bring a wealth of business as well as horsemanship experience to SIS. Ken Lutz has accepted the role of Chief of Staff. He brings a wealth of business experience with him to the team. I am so thankful to have Holly, Donna and Ken part of our SIS team! It is truly amazing to have people with such talent accept these positions as true volunteers. SIS has NO paid employees.
We also have some exciting news regarding our Heroes and Horses! Some of our heroes have moved up to the advanced horsemanship group. Our wranglers and ranch hands have been instrumental in helping our heroes get to this level. We are so very proud of our volunteers and our Heroes! We have also been preparing our horses for trail rides off the property. Because the majority of our horses are rescues, we don’t know how they will do on trails. So our wranglers have been trailering the horses to local trails and are preparing them to be great trail horses for our heroes. I can’t wait to see what the future holds as our heroes continue their horsemanship journey.
I hope to see you all at the ranch!
Tammy
