A message from Tammy, our CEO
September was definitely a month filled with mixed emotions for all of us at SIS. We started the month on high alert with fire season in full swing. The Valley Fire started just a few miles down the road from the Ranch and burned over 17,000 acres. We monitored the fire closely and made the decision to evacuate the horses before the Santa Ana winds rolled in. Many people jumped right in and offered to help us trailer the horses to an evacuation site. Our volunteers were amazing and all pulled together to make the evacuation seamless. Our trailer loading practice paid off as we had no problems loading the horses into the trailers. We were very proud of our volunteers and our horses! This experience did highlight the need for two more 4-horse stock trailers. If you, or someone you know, would like to help SIS in this way, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
After returning to the ranch, we experienced tremendous heartbreak as we lost my horse, Romey. Romey was kicked by another horse and succumbed to his injuries. His loss has left a huge hole in my heart as well as everyone here at SIS. He was laid to rest here on the property next to my horse Ghost.
I want to thank everyone who brought flowers and beautiful gifts. I am forever thankful for everyone’s kindness and love.
We are truly family.
Tammy
