A message from Tammy, our CEO
Howdy, everyone! Our 1st Annual Golf Tournament was a huge success thanks to our amazing volunteers, sponsors, and participants! It was truly a Fantastic Day! Our event was covered by KUSI’s Kacey McKinnon all morning and Umbrella Media sent a photographer to capture some great moments on the course and off! I was so impressed by our volunteers that made the entire event go smoothly. Thank you to Cheryl who was a great project manager and led our team of volunteers. The response we kept hearing was that it was the best golf tournament they have attended. Our shotgun start was scheduled for 9 am but it was so organized that we actually started at 8:55. Great job Cheryl, Betsy, Michelle, Caleigh, Sandy, Taelor, Bruce, Katie, Dave, Marty, and Frank! You all were instrumental in making the day an enormous success!
Our Emcee was TV Host/Media Coach/Author/Recording Artist, Amy Scruggs. If you have attended San Diego Padre games then you have certainly heard her sing the National Anthem before many ball games at Petco Park. She started our tournament by singing the National Anthem followed by San Diego Fire & Rescue Chaplain, Dan Guarrero, giving the invocation. Both of them did a beautiful job of kicking off our tournament! Thank you to you both!
Our event was such a success that we have already booked our date for next year’s golf tournament. Mark your calendars for Friday, May 6th, 2022 at Cottonwood Golf Course in El Cajon! It will be even bigger and better!
For our expansion news, Texas: we will be transporting 5 horses this month to start the Saddles In Service program in Texas! We are extremely excited to watch our Texas Division grow under the leadership of Donna Sinema. Donna will be posting pictures as they develop SIS Texas. I am very thankful to have such a great woman build this first satellite site. Thank you so much Donna and Sterling! Wyoming: I had the pleasure of traveling to our new site in Wyoming along with our Board member, Jason Deaner. We had a wonderful time with Tom and Rebecca, enjoying friendship, riding horses, and having an evening in Cody. I am so excited for our Heroes to experience the beautiful country that Tom will be introducing them to on horseback. I am so thankful that our Wyoming adventure will be led by such an amazing couple. Their horsemanship is phenomenal to watch and learn from. With the expansion of these two new sites, we will be in need of sponsors to help support our program needs. Please let me know if you would like to sponsor a Hero or group of Heroes to go through our program and experience all that riding in the beautiful and wide open country that Wyoming has to offer. It will be an extremely soothing and healing opportunity for our Heroes.
I want to personally thank all of our sponsors and donors who support SIS! Without you we could not deliver our expanding programs to the men and women who give so much to all of us in their service to our nation and our communities.
Blessings!
Tammy
